It is a mind-body fitness technique that emphasizes concentration, flexibility and overall strength over body bulk. Pilates’ systematic practice of specific exercises, coupled with focused breathing patterns, encourages core stability, efficient use of the body and finesse of movement. In this Pilates mat class, student move from a variety of positions on their mats from reclining to seated, to all fours, using props or simply being guided in specific movement series.
